Dying In Danville

11:00 Saturday the 7th, 91 degrees outside.  The Danville weekend started off with a short track in Hess field park.  My race went off at 1:00, the hottest part off the day.  Right in the beginning, these two spectators were standing right in the middle of the cut grass trail.  I assumed they were going to get off the path but i was wrong.  I almost ran her right over them and I had to come to a complete stop.  Ed McDaniels is back from California and me and him were neck and neck during the first lap.  I pulled away from him and was chasing down Jake.  During my fourth lap, Zach road behind me and pushed me to catch Jake.  I couldn't get him, and spun the last lap to save energy for the hill climb and cross country race.  I won the Sport B category.  The hill climb was really tough,  even though it was only 7 minutes long.  After the TT a lot of people went swimming in the creek.  Fernando and Loretta took me to Jared' s, a member of their Bike Line team for  a party.  It was really fun,  somehow clippers came out and everyone started getting hair cuts.  It was Zach's 18 birthday, and he got a mohawk.  He brought a cake that was amazing and everyone had a great time.  The XC race on saturday was easily the hardest race ever.  The temperature was through the roof and the water stations never came soon enough.  The race started off with Madison and I leading the mass start up the hill.  I think I was 3rd into the woods and Madison was 4th.  I liked the Mass start a lot, because I was racing the hole sport class, not just my age group.  I ended up 8th overall out of over a 100, but first out of all juniors. We rode that first single track together, and I clipped a tree and fell, then he made a move.  He got a tiny jump on me and  then he got a flat.  He made a right turn onto a fire road and i guess he clipped a pointy rock or something.  When I came around the corner I saw him dismount and could hear the air start to drain from his tire.  I than felt a second wind after that first climb and accelerated to put a gap between me and the rest of my class.  After a while into the race, Caleb caught up to me for a little but then I dropped him to ride by myself for the rest of the race.  I was absolutely dying as I pulled into the first water station.  I poured the water on me and instantly felt a million times better.  From the first water station till the end of the race was a nightmare.  The heat really started to kick in and i was feeling it horribly.  From the final downhill till the finish i kept thinking i was there, when i wasn't.  The trail was playing tricks on me, and I felt horrible.  I came across the finish line entirely spent. The Danville weekend was an awesome weekend, one i will always remember!!
